Vernissage: resonating metal and juxtaposing lines

Art

Until March 29 2024, you can admire the artworks of Eelke Van Willegen and Leo Jacobs at Art Forum in Antwerp. I attended the vernissage and had the opportunity to meet the artists. Eelke, who works with metal, left a lasting impression with his resonant creations. As a passionate surfer, he incorporates his water experiences into his art. Ensuring that his artworks resonate from every angle, he draws a lot of sketches before he starts the actual welding. A handpan, a metal instrument, harmonized with his pieces that evening and added an extra dimension for the senses.

The metal art shares the room with paintings on dibond in various sizes by Leo Jacobs, a former C level professional turned full-time artist. He specializes in juxtaposing lines in his art and compares them to pixels in the digital world. Similar to how a limited number of colors can produce a wide range of hues when combined correctly, the intriguing compositions in his paintings come to life in a similar way, if you take the time to really absorb what you see.

Expo from 28.01.2024 till 29.03.2024
